1. Overview & Products
Claritygrid LLC ("ClarityGrid," "we," "us") operates three distinct platforms under the ClarityGrid brand. Each platform has different data requirements. This policy explains what each collects, why, and how it is protected.
| Platform | URL | Who it's for | Account type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Learn | learn.claritygrid.com | Students, Grades 1โ12 | Name + grade + PIN only |
| Career | career.claritygrid.com | Adults, professionals | Email, Google OAuth, payment |
| Jobs | jobs.claritygrid.com | Job seekers | Email, Google OAuth, payment |
2. ClarityGrid Learn โ What We Collect
ClarityGrid Learn is designed for children. We deliberately collect the minimum possible data. No email address. No real last name. No payment information. No advertising. No tracking across other websites.
What we collect
- Profile: A first name (or nickname), school grade (1โ12), and a 4-digit PIN chosen by the student or parent. No email address is required or collected.
- Learning data: Subject skill levels, questions answered, answers given, session scores, and AI-generated feedback. This data exists solely to power the adaptive engine and produce session reports.
- Session metadata: Date and time of sessions, time spent per question. No device identifiers, no IP address stored against a profile.
- Speaking sessions: When a student uses the Public Speaking feature, their spoken words are transcribed via the browser's built-in Web Speech API. The transcript text is sent to our AI for grading. We do not record or store audio files.
What we do NOT collect on Learn
- Email addresses
- Last names or full legal names
- Parent or guardian contact information
- Payment or financial information
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or persistent cookies linked to identity
- Location data
- Social media accounts or third-party login credentials
- Photos or images
3. ClarityGrid Career & Jobs โ What We Collect
Career and Jobs are adult platforms. Creating an account requires:
- Identity: Name and email address (via Google OAuth or direct registration).
- Profile data: Employment history, skills, career goals, and resume content you choose to provide.
- Payment information: Processed securely via Stripe. We do not store card numbers โ only a Stripe customer token.
- Third-party connector data: If you connect services (e.g., LinkedIn), only the data you explicitly authorize is accessed.
- Usage data: Feature usage, session timing, and AI interaction logs used to improve the product.
4. How We Use Data
Across all products, data is used only for:
- Delivering and improving the service you signed up for
- Generating AI-powered content (questions, feedback, roadmaps) via the Gemini API
- Providing session reports and progress tracking
- Diagnosing and fixing technical problems
- Complying with legal obligations
We do not use any Learn student data to train AI models, build advertising profiles, or market to students or their families.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We share data with third parties only where necessary to operate the service:
- Google Gemini API: Question text and student answers are sent to Gemini for AI grading and content generation. No name, grade, or identifying information is included in these requests.
- Stripe (Career & Jobs only): Payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Hostinger: Our hosting provider stores all data on US-based servers.
We do not sell data from any ClarityGrid product to any third party, ever. We do not share student data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
ClarityGrid Learn is intended for children and is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- We do not require children to provide an email address or any contact information to use ClarityGrid Learn.
- We do not collect personal information from children for commercial purposes.
- We do not serve advertising to children on ClarityGrid Learn.
- We do not share children's data with advertising networks or social media companies.
- Parents may request to review, correct, or delete their child's data at any time by contacting admin@claritygrid.com.
- Because no email address is collected, we cannot send email communications to students. All communication happens through the in-app experience.
7. Schools and FERPA
When ClarityGrid Learn is used in a school or district context, we act as a school official under FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) with respect to any student education records we process.
- Student learning data is used only for the educational purpose of providing the adaptive learning service.
- We do not disclose student education records to any third party without the school's authorization, except as required by law.
- Schools and districts retain the right to request export or deletion of all student data associated with their institution at any time.
- We do not use student data to build profiles for non-educational purposes.
Districts interested in a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) or Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC) addendum should contact admin@claritygrid.com.
8. Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
- Passwords and PINs are stored as bcrypt hashes โ never in plaintext.
- Payment data (Career & Jobs) is handled entirely by Stripe and never passes through our servers in unencrypted form.
- All data is stored on US-based servers operated by Hostinger.
- Access to production data is limited to authorized personnel only.
